Will penicillin kill the infection in my jaw bone

The dentist said that I had a terrible infection in my bone below the abcessed tooth. she prescibed Penicillan will it cure the infection in my Jaw??

Should do, but of course, once the abscessed tooth is removed, the cause of the infection will disappear, the pencillin will clear up the rest.
