Zirconia crown with opposing zirconia crown

I’m going in next week because of the piece that came off. I have had 4 crowns. Two on the bottom, one of my lateral incisors and now this one. The first crown I had on the bottom was terrible like a huge marshmallow cloud. This is reminiscent of that but not as horrible. With the other two I was instantly happy. This I’m not.

Let’s say the margin is fine is it ok that it’s contacting to a little lesser degree?

Definitely ok. If there is light touch the teeth will probably won’t be affected. If there is no contact at all, there might be some teeth movement but very light unnoticeable adjustment.

Thank you. It has contact when I clench and grind. Light contact when not clenching. The dr said there’s more contact on the natural teeth if that makes sense.

Will my teeth adjust to that? Eventually work itself out? I wear a night guard which I’ve heard hinders your mouth fixing your bite.

That’s good to know I’m going to give I a little while to see if my mouth gets used to it. The margin chipping and how it feels bulky is the part that worries me. I have a tight mouth and a muscle comes right across it.

My new dentist wanted to redo it, because the crown edges did not line up properly and there was a "pocket" where I always had trapped food. When she took it off, it had decay under it, and ended up being a deep filling that turned into a root canal, which failed. I ended up losing the tooth.

I’m sorry to hear that. I’m sure the next crown will be amazing. My old dentist retired and I had to get a emergency root canal at my local dental school and there the ones that did this most recent. It sounds like your new dentist has a eye for detail and picked up that it had a pocket right?

Well, long story, but my first dentist after we moved was amazing, and she discovered the pocket. She left the practice in January, so I have been handed off to her partner. So far he seems okay. He spent a lot of time on the crown prep and checked the temp carefully.

That’s a great sign! Mine did not which should of been a red flag. You want a perfectionist and someone that has a eye for detail.

Update. Last night I came to the conclusion I hate his crown. I wrote a email to the school asking for help in the matter. I’ve settled in the past and always kicked myself for not speaking up to try to fix it. It’s not a good crown period the end.

I hope they can resolve it for you. It looks like mine is going to turn into an extraction and implant, unfortunately. Although it is still good that my dentist is a perfectionist because he is the one making the crown for the implants as well.

I spoke up and we’ll see we’re it takes me. He’s not a good fit for me he didn’t listen to my concerns in the beginning and now I need someone to fix or redo it. I dont trust him at this point. I’m so sorry to hear that you need a extraction. Are you getting implants for the molars?

Yes, planning on it. I will have no molars on that side otherwise.
