I have to drive self to dentist for 6 month check up (following an overdue check up, a filling, some hygienist appts, 3, and deep clean which have gone fine...... this is the next thing)
Rationally it *should* be ok - but having still to force myself out of my phobia and go when I *really* don't want to and have achieved nothing of a very long list should be doing this morning...
Just writing it here as I know people here understand and - er so that I actually go!!!!!
I can't work out if more than 6 months for a check up would be the way to go for me - I SO don't want to fall off the wagon into denial again!!!!

You should feel very proud of yourself for breaking the cycle of avoidance and continuing to go as preventative. It's easy to stop going when we aren't having pain. It sounds like you are on the right path for a future of good dental health. Half the battle with this fear is that unlike flying or clowns it is something we must face at least every 6 months. Treat yourself to a little something for your accomplishment! You earned it!
