Hi,

On Wednesday I had an extraction which went fine. Before that I had a check up and an appointment where I got a tooth filled so my dentist has looked at my teeth and gums multiple times. However, since having the extraction my gums (not everywhere but mostly on the opposite side of my mouth) have become really sore and bleed when I brush them. I try not to brush too hard but make sure that I brush them well and they don't seem to have changed. I honestly have no idea what has brought this on. I don't think it is because of the extraction but it's strange how it suddenly started afterwards.

The only things I could think of are that
1 I have started chewing on that side only now because of the extraction on the other side which may have irritated my gums, although it is also a little on the side where the extraction is but only on the bottom gums for both
2 I have switched from electric to manual toothbrush the past few days because I didn't want to irritate the extraction site/ cause the blood clot to detach so they are aggravated because I haven't brushed them as well as I normally would

Also my dentist game me a new mouthwash called Flux Pro which is the only change I've made to products I use.

Or maybe I have gum disease which scares me quite a lot. I can't see how that's possible though because surely my dentist would have been able to spot that? I've never had it before though so I don't know how quickly it comes on or anything.

Any help/ support would really be appreciated! I'm getting quite nervous about this.

could be you are brushing harder with the manual brush. I would probably do a salt water rinse a few times a day and see if it helps.
I'd also probably give up the new mouthwash and try it again later if you wanted.

Thanks for your advice. I haven't tried a salt water rinse yet so will give it a go!

Don't swish too much with that fresh extraction site...be gentle. Hope it helps!
