Unfortunately, my dentist never called me. The only thing I've heard is from the secretary (who isn't a dentist) trying to push the Oral Sedative AND the Nitrous together. She also keeps bringing up IV sedation (which costs about $1,000 USD). I told her already I cannot afford that, and that nitrous would be fine.
Here's what I don't understand:
The secretary (not sure her official title at the office), asked me two weeks ago when I set the appointment up if I would prefer NITROUS OXIDE or ORAL SEDATION. I told her I wasn't sure, and that I'd have to get back with her after I did some research.
That research was coming to this forum and website to ask for opinions from other dentists and members who have had different types of sedation. Based on everything I read, I decided on NITROUS OXIDE sedation.
Two days ago the secretary calls me and asks if I've made up my mind because the office is going on vacation for the Christmas holiday and my appointment is on the day they re-open: January 2nd. As I've already explained: I told her NITROUS OXIDE.
So now she's saying, "You know you can do BOTH, right? I'm just concerned that two and a half hours of extractions might be too long for just nitrous oxide."
I felt confident before after deciding on Nitrous Oxide, but now I'm second-guessing my choice. Plus, she brought up IV sedation again which I've already explained is off the table. So I had to tell her again, "No, I don't want IV sedation."
Oof. This is one reason I'm not a fan of the dentist. It's going to cost me $3,000 to remove all four teeth, and I'm still trying to decide on how to even be comfortable. It's too much money and anxiety just to have a bunch of teeth missing in my mouth. And when I'm done with the extractions, they'll just call me back in for more fillings and root canals and god knows what else later on. It's all so frustrating to me, and I don't have the cash to just shell out. I brush twice a day, I floss every single day. I even use a Water Pik to clean my teeth, and I never miss a beat. What's the use of these teeth if they all just fall out anyway?
Sorry for the rant.
