Hi all. Been a while. Thanks corona.

I finally decided after being quoted 10 grand by a surgeon (most of which my insurance covered) and 10 grand to *fix* my teeth "because that surgeon is just taking your money" (most of which insurance WON'T cover) to just bite the bullet and get the rest of my teeth taken out.

Today was surgery, extractions of all bottom teeth with alvoliplasty and removal of a bone spore left from extractions 3 years ago that I had just been suffering with. A pretty extensive surgery for a mouth. An immediate denture was placed as soon as the surgeon was done. The denture was done by a denturist as the oral surgeon is a straight up surgeon.

It was done under general anesthesia at the hospital I work at. I woke to a friend of mine as my nurse who also has dental issues. I couldnt talk between the loopyness and the oral packing but we managed.

All in all it was a great experience. Novocain is finally wearing off and it's not the incisions bothering me. It is the denture. It is too long under my tongue and too tight around the front of my jaw. Neither is a swelling issue. It is causing a pressure sore on the bone.

I do have an appointment tomorrow with the denturist, but this pain is pretty bad. I'm not supposed to remove it as it is supposed to compress the jaw and keep swelling under control.

I can't swallow well due to the pain cramping up when my tongue moves to swallow. I'm supposed to he over hydrating to flush the anesthesia.

Just took Norco and an extra 500 mg of tylenol (850 total between both). And refreshed my ice packs. If this doesn't abate soon, do I call the surgeon or the denturist?

Hi there and well done for getting through it ?!

Why not give both of them a call (or get your friend to call them)? You probably already have! Please let us know how you’ve been getting on?

Had follow up and he shaved some of it down, buy it just ended up digging elsewhere. I have very little jaw left I noticed when I looked in the mirror.

Not due for more tylenol so I can't take more Norco, and after an eroded stomach, I can't take NSAIDs.

I have a cold pack but the pain is intense tonight. I don't know what else to do until I can take more tylenol. I don't remember it hurting this much with my tops. I was at an all day training the next day. I can't even fathom that now.

:grouphug:So sorry you are enduring so much pain this time.. Sounds exhausting ..Its hard too when Nsaids hurt your stomach and you can't balance with ibuprophen. That is alot to go through.Glad you got to do it in the hospital you work with a nurse you know. that seems a plus.
I hope you can get some rest and the pain goes down a bit.
