was eating some crunchy chips today, and when i bit down i experienced a sharp sensitivity (are they called zingers?). i’m really worried because this was a tooth i already got filled at some point but ive always thought was weirdly caved in (i think they put super minimal filling). i ate a burrito right after which caused another zinger too even though it was really soft. i tried pressing my nail against the tooth but it didn’t do anything fortunately.

when ive had cavities before it has never hurt or been sensitive beforehand, despite my dentist telling me a couple of times that it was reasonably deep. i’m scared that now that i’m feeling something it’s super bad and im going to have to get my teeth pulled. i don’t want to go to the dentist if i don’t have to, but im not going to just let my teeth rot… what should i do??

for context i don’t normally have issues, unless i eat something super sugary and chewy (like sour patch kids), and i think that’s because my gums have receded from braces and are exposing the sensitive parts. cold and hot has never been much of an issue, though it happens sometimes if i have sinus problems

You "bruised" the little ligament that holds the tooth in place. Take it easy on it for a few days and it'll recover.

@Gordon ok but it was kind of like the cold sensitivity and not like a oops sore sensitivity? does that work for the little ligaments?
