I need to have a badly cracked #2 Molar removed & a baby canine tooth removed..I last had an extraction back in 2008 on a 1st Molar. I am sure I will be fine once I make the appointment & get there but in the mean time I am freaking myself out. Please help me be reassured that all will be fine. I am scared of the extraction itself not really the Local Numbing shot, as I had that about 2 years ago to remove build up of calcium around my gum. Please help, I am trying to relax but once I start thinking about it the fear comes right back.:shame::(:dunno:

Hello :) please don't panick, I know it's waaaay easier said than done! All you need to remember is that dentist arnt out to hurt you they want to help! What I do is take an iPod with me and concentrate on that as I think the worst thing is hearing all the instruments! Please let us know how you get on! Best wishes!

You will prob notice pressure but there should be no pain once you are fully numb the tooth will be encouraged to release itself from its socket with a sort of rocking pressure, by the time it has released it will just lift out, think of two ice cream cones one inside the other and gently encouraging one to be free from the other, it's a bit like that, someone said if you put you hand against the side of your head and press one against the other this is the sort of pressure, it prob take longer to get everything ready, a couple of minutes should see the teeth gone, All the best to you.<br>

Called to make appt today, said I have to see general dentist this Friday at 1 to get a consult to see the oral surgeon. If tooth is infected he will write a prescription to get me by til the oral surgeon has an opening around Jan 29. Why does it have to be so far away, & thats just the consult to schedule for an extraction.:scared::cry:

Is it ok to wait?:scared:
