need my molar extracted and i’m a mess of anxiety

@DravenDatura that’s reassuring, I have to have a broken upper molar out and I have been told they will need to split it and that makes my anxiety million times worse. I’m worried it will feel pain or vibrations will be too much,

@DravenDatura you’re welcome, it’s not nonsense, your worries are completely valid. When I was in the chair i actually focused on in less than half an hour i will be back home and able to watch netflix and kind of tried to visualise myself being back home on the sofa while it was happening. I had the same shots you mentioned.

@DravenDatura @JoanneandRalph I had a bottom back molar extraction exactly 2 weeks ago. I was terrified about having it done before I went to the appointment but it went really well. I needed to have the extraction because I had an infection and an abscess near the tooth that was extracted. The dentist was really nice. She explained everything that was going to happen by telling me that I would feel some pressure and hear some noises but that it wouldn't be painful or uncomfortable and it wasnt painful or uncomfortable and feeling the pressure didn't bother me. I was also thinking about it not being long until I would be back at home watching Netflix. I enjoy watching documentaries, films and series on Netflix and on other apps. The time went by so quickly when the tooth was extracted. I keep thinking that because I managed to get through having the extraction, I will be able to get through anything that I need to have done at the dentists in the future.

@JoanneandRalph very much indeed! just scheduled a cleaning next tuesday along with a cavity filling on the tooth behind where i got the extraction that they seen/told me from the x-ray last friday. get that hole in the side of it taken care of and then i’ll be able to breathe

@DravenDatura I know you and JoanneandRalph haven't been on the forum for a few months and I'm not sure if you will see my posts but I just want to say well done for how well everything went at your appointment. My next appointment is for a routine check up and to have a cleaning and a filling done in February. Did having the cleaning and the filling done go well for you?.

@anonfemale I’m waiting for the dentist to get back and check my cray to see if the tooth is easy extraction or will need sectioning (surigical) then probably 2 weeks. Just hope I’m healed before Christmas so I can have a yummy dinner lol

@DravenDatura you are much braver than me ! i have an extration in 2 weeks .. last bottom molar cracked i dont do in root canals. i have had one pulled before with an implant . iv sedation
my problem is i need to be put out the sounds the the smells the everything makes me very freaked . i even have to take xanax before a cleaning. I do a care credit to pay it off
my phobias started when i started not to be able to get numb.. i think my anxiety makes it that way .. i worry about the next time i will need a filling all the time ..

Hello, I had one wisdom tooth and a molar pulled in 2019 and it wasn’t fun but there was no pain. Even the shots didn’t hurt I remember first shot was a pinch then I went instantly numb. I was so scared the laughing gas didn’t really help! In total it took the surgeon maybe 40 minutes to pull both teeth. The hardest part was getting there and sitting in that scary chair. The healing part was ok too, I was sore for a week or so but I stuck to a soft food diet and healed just fine. I wish you the best!
