Background info, sorry to Ramble
I'm 25, and I have not been to the dentist since i was about 14. It was the very last time i went. I never had good experiences [extractions at 3 and traumatic] had a tooth pulled for some sort of spacer? was a baby tooth and healthy but the LA would NOT kick in till i left. I didnt blame the dentist at all, once i started tearing up he tried applying more and more to make me comfortable [but alas it did not work] so i essentially felt the tooth being pulled the entire time...but the moment im out? My whole jaw and face are numb [in a normal way] i was 11 at the time after a modified spacer broke in school and needed replacing.

Around 12/13 or so, i had gotten an ED and would regularly make myself sick/practically addicted to diet coke between that-combined with staying out of the dentist as much as possible, my teeth were a wreck with 1 front tooth having a small chip [cavity] near the gum line. It took a few months to get in [14 now] and of course, public health isnt the best care-they decided to not work on the more decayed tooth and decided handling a different one to fill. I pre-emptively told the dentist that for whatever reason, the anesthetic takes a bit to kick in for me. And unfortunately for me-as before it did not work.
Instead of trying to re-apply the dentist told me that if i didn't want any pain i should have cared more and that ive made a dire mistake and he refused to apply more. I went through the filling process feeling it completely and it was the worst pain i felt in my life, along with the complete embarrassment from this dentist. I had i believe 6/8 cavities most in the front [making myself sick and the soda] brushing harder didnt help and fast forward to now where i've even lost quite a few teeth and have horrid pain. I'm wanting to get them extracted but im terrified of the anesthetic not working, and more so being judged. I'd prefer a female dentist but not even sure if that can be asked for.
Has anyone had a resistance to LA? Have you ever gotten it to work or do something different for the visit?
