Well I'm back from my appointment and it went better than expected. The dentist and hygienist were very friendly and understanding of my concerns and my anxiety. I did a panorex 360 xray and bitewing xrays. I didn't get to have a cleaning today because I have gum disease with heavy tartar buildup. They gave me a treatment plan to come back for a deep cleaning, laser treatment as part of the cleaning, and I have some cavities that will need to be filled. I was very worried about bone loss and I had surprisingly little. I will be going back next week to set up my appointments. I have opted for non iv sedation. I'm feeling a lot better after making it through the first appointment. I feel like I will be able to tackle my future appointments now. Thank goodness for this forum and all of the supportive people here. I have not been a very active poster but I do read many of the other posts here. So again, thank you all for being so supportive!

Congrats and well done!
So happy to hear that it went well and even better than expected! These are lovely news! I'm also happy to hear that you feel confident enough to get through your treatment without iv sedation. On this way every visit will be a positive experience and your anxiety gets less and less with every visit and allows you to stay on track long term. It's also nice to hear that you found the forum being a support on your journey.
Well done again and keep us posted whenever you feel like it.![]()
. Do you think it might be worth getting a second opinion, considering the amount of work (and money) proposed? I know you went to great lengths to find a place with good reviews, and that your husband also checked them out, but there might be other dentists in your area who also get good reviews so you have a point of comparison. I also thought that 6 weeks seems a long time to have to wait for a deep cleaning.
