I am having an upper partial denture soon , just had my impressions done and aside from being petrified about the extractions I am facing which is all my top teeth except the front 6 I am a bit confussed. When i first saw the dentist there it was a locum dentist , she was lovely. I went in expecting her to say they all needed to come out and I would have to have a full upper denture but she said the front 6 could be saved and she would fit a metal framed partial which would be more comfortable . Anyway shes now left , i went in for my bite fitting only to find out the teeth they recivd back wernt mine :|...so more impressions were taken. This is now a new dentist to me, she seems nice but when i asked her if the partial would have a full plate on the roof of my mouth she said yes it would , i didnt think metal framed partials had those , im now really worried because im a real gagger..help? with just the back/side teeth needing replacement will i need the full plate coverage??
:(

If it's replacing all the back teeth, then normally a bit more coverage is needed, metal bases are a lot thinner than plastic ones so should be better tolerated by you. It sounds like you need to have a chat with the dentist and get some more information, you really shouldn't need to ask questions like that on here....
