Tori and dentures

I have to have the bone over my top teeth ground down before I can get dentures. The bone is huge and I want to know how long afterwards should I wait to get my top denture plate? Where I am going tomorrow is a clinic that is very cheap for this area where I live. $240.00 per side for the grinding... $24.00 per tooth extraction fee for 10 teeth and $310.00 for my plate. Will the dentist grind my bones and then try to put my denture plate in immediately? They usually put in the plate right after extractions if you don't have the bone grinding done. Also, I have heard they will give me Valium 20 to 30 mg before for my fear. But just in case, I have some zanax that the doctor gives me PRN for anziety. Should I bring them and take them if the dentist does not gove me any Valium? I am scared a little about it. I was originally scheduled 4 weeks ago and did not show up because I became chicken to have it done. What has changed my mind is the fact that now I have pus pockets in the top tooth that is starting to really hurt and I took some antibiotics but they did not work. So pain out weighs fear now. But I am still somewhat anxious. Thank you

While all dentists have different approaches I can only share mine with you. I recommend that you ask these questions of your dentist prior to the appointment as it will help reduce your anxiety.
I remove tori with a piezosurgical handpiece. This device cuts bone with very little trauma and with fine precision as the tip is very thin and vibrates at a high pitch while being irrigated with sterile saline. After the tori are removed the area is sutured and then the denture relined with a soft reliner while the patient heals.
