Upset after my appointment at the dentists yesterday. I have a bit of bone loss.

Use whatever fits best.

@Gordon Thank you. I think the medium ones fit between some of my back teeth so I will carry on using those there. I will let you know if the large ones fit between the back teeth that the medium ones don't fit. I have just ordered some large ones from Amazon.

If medium don't fit then I doubt large will?

I used the large interdental brushes this morning and they fitted in the spaces between my teeth and gums.

My next appointment with the dentist is in three weeks time. I'm already feeling anxious about it.

I'm worried in case the large interdental brushes damage my gums. In between one tooth, a bit of the handle has been going through. I'm not sure if it should go through that far. The dentist did write down that I should use large interdental brushes on my back teeth and gums.
It was strange just now because I retched and then I was sick after using the interdental brushes and that doesn't always happen. I hope I can still use them. I will wait a while and then use my water pik and my electric toothbrush.

@Gordon @letsconnect I am fine with using the interdental brushes in the morning, afternoon and at night, but how many times can I use the waterpik and electric toothbrush?. I have heard that people shouldn't brush more than twice a day, but could I use the waterpik in the afternoons too?. It would just be in the few areas where the food is after I have eaten my lunch. I'm not sure if I could use the interdental brushes and the waterpik in the evening after a meal, but I do use everything before I go to bed. Four times a day seems a lot though.

My dentist told me over brushing is not great for teeth and gums and brushing twice a day is fine.

Let's put this in nice clear language for you then:

Use the interdental brushes once, brush a maximum 3 times and use the waterpik as often as you like.

@Gordon Thank you Gordon. I think I will still use the interdental brushes twice if that's ok and maybe just in the couple of areas where there is food stuck in my gums because I dont like feeling the food stuck there ( sometimes the water gets all of the food out of my mouth, but not always) and I will brush a maximum of 3 times and use the waterpik as often as I like. Or I might just use the waterpik and not the interdental brushes after meals.

There is sometimes still food stuck in my mouth after using the waterpik after meals so I might have to still use the interdental brushes when it's still stuck.

My gums haven't been bleeding for months now which I am glad about.

@Gordon @letsconnect Does it matter if the interdental brushed is curved or not?. I keep it straight when I am using them.

Straight is fine, it's just floss that you need to curve around the bottom of the tooth.

Many people find it easier to curve the soft neck or the wire of the interdental brush slightly to get them in between back teeth. But if you're able to keep it straight, that's fine.

There's some more info with illustrations here:

@Gordon I use the interdental tepe thing between every tooth, can flossing in a way like getting stuck cause a sprained ligament

No it takes a fair bit of force to sprain the ligaments, the floss would break first.

@letsconnect Thank you. I have been keeping the wire straight and I am used to using the interdental brushes now and my gums haven't been bleeding.
