Just wanted to update you guys again

everything healed perfect with the extractions and Ive had my bridge adjusted to compensate for the healing of the gums (i no longer have a gap at the top lol)

the dentist said to leave the temp bridge in till the end of Jan .. that will have give me plenty of healing time at which point we will do the impressions for the perm bridge.

I have my cleaning appt 1/9/2010 and will also have impressions taken for the bleaching trays

next steps: we are going to do some fillings in a couple weeks

Well I had my cleaning/polishing appt today ... things went great - this is the the first time in 30 years ive had my teeth cleaned and suprisingly there was almost no build up on my teeth and gums (i guess the brushing 2x a day I was doing counted for something lol)

My gums are in great health - no disease and no redness and the cleaning went well .. though i must say .. im not too fond of the blood taste .. my mouth bled a little .. i was expecting that though seeing as Ive never had this done before.

so Im good on that front for the next 6 months

We also did the impressions for my bleaching trays which i should have next week

We will do the bleaching and then tackle the fillings I need in a couple weeks..

My fiance did the polishing of my teeth but her good friend did the cleaning ... talk about in good hands .. I know im in a VERY good situation with the care that I have and honestly without it .. I dont think i would be able to do it .. everyone that has worked on me has given 1000% effort and has done everything to accomidate me ... I feel very lucky

can't wait to get the fillings out of the way and the impressions done for the perm bridge at the end of the month ..

When the fiance and I were discussing wedding plans last year .. the topic of wedding photography came up and I was like "uhhh do we really need that?" .. such a silly thing to say but how could i even think of having my picture taken looking the way I did ..

but i can proudly say .. we booked the photographer today and im very much looking forward to the wedding photos

Thank you for the kind words... the support I have gotten here means alot

I must admit being in the situation I am in has made this alot easier on me but im very proud of myself for finally facing what I have dreaded my whole life .. my teeth literally consumed every thought .. I would sit and fantasize about having a perfect smile and then look at the mirror and be shattered when i realized how bad my mouth was

everytime i get something new done .. I feel so proud and excited because i realize that I am one step closer to having everything healthy .. but being on the right track is the most important thing ...

when I sit and think back to 2 months ago .. the hardest thing out of all of this has been Me admitting I had a problem .. once I decided to face it head on and open up about it .. everything else has been great... i mean .. dont get me wrong .. ive been nervous and scared but nothing would ever equal the fear/embarassment and shame that consumed me before

I hope people reading my story and the other wonderful stories here .. will find that special one that will touch them and give them that extra ooomph that they need to get over the hurdle and make that first appt .. you won't regret it ..

even with my temp bridge in .. when i look in the mirror and smile its almost like my skin radiates ... i love being able to smile and feel good about myself doing it

Small update=

Just got an email from the dentist - im going in wednesday (tommorow) for some fillings - hes coming in at 8:45 AM to do the fillings (office does not open till 11:30) so thats kinda cool ... it really means alot that hes willing to take his personal time away from his family to come and do work on me before the work opens.

I must say that after having my temp bridge put in and going through the cleaning and stuff and finally meeting the fiance's coworkers .. I would actually be comfortable with going in during normal business hours

I did tell him im available whenever he wants.. if he wants me there at 7 am or 7 pm .. whatever works best for him .. its the least I can do after all they have done for me so far.

there is also a possibility that the perm bridge impressions will be done that day as well as my healing has gone WAY WAY better then expected.

Also - they will be pouring the molds for my bleaching trays today and ill pick those up wed as well

Ive never had fillings before so this will be a new experience ... but as always I look forward to it because i know its just one more step in the path to getting my mouth all taken care of.

Ill update on wed when I get home to let you all know what was done and how it went

Sorry for the lack of an update... I didnt get the work done last week due to my dentist having a sick son . .. So he could not come in early

I did however have some work done today

Got 2 composite fillings and we did all the impressions for the perm bridge which i should have in a couple weeks

Next week: finish up the last coulple fillings and im also getting ZOOM done.

Fillings were a breeze .. I mean after having a bridge prep done everything else seems so minor lol

the fillings look awesome and im so excited that we finally took the impressions for the perm bridge... I cant wait to see how it comes out.

Well today came as a bit of a surpise.. as noted before .. i was scheduled to have more fillings done next wed .. but my fiance sent me a text telling me that they had some openings today ..

So I headed into the dentist this morning for 11 am appt.

got 5 fillings done .. only need 1 more and i will be cavity free

Zoom next wed .. cant wait


Aside from getting work done .. today was a big milestone for me .. this was the first time that someone else besides the dentist and my fiance had worked on me. I had the dentist's usual assistant working with him and she was AWESOME .. so it was really great that I had no issues with someone else looking into and working on my mouth.

Here is Todays update

Had zoom teeth whitening done today

my teeth before zoom were an a35 .. they are now an a1 .. .. I had one tiny tiny zinger but that was it .. It was a breeze ...

The colors are based off the Vita Shade guide - to give you an idea of the results - look at the pic below .. you can see that there is quite a difference between a35 and a1




Im very happy with the results...

My perm bridge is almost done and will be matched to my teeth now that ive had zoom done... and i have 1 filling left to go

I kind of put myself in a tight spot when I decided to wait until nov to start to get my teeth sorted out lol .. I told myself I wanted to be able to smile at my wedding .. and that is on March 27 .. So it didnt leave a huge amount of time to get alot of work done ..

So thats why we have Turbo dental work lol

Although I must admit .. everytime I get something done .. I cant wait for the next visit because I love seeing the results ..

Im very very excited to see how the perm bridge comes out .. should be in .. in less then a week .. after that and the 1 filling .. im going to be in real good shape.. though def not finished.

So i got the wonderful news today

My permanent Bridge is in .. Ill be getting it put in wednesday as well as the last filling i need.

Im very excited yet very nervous .. I hope that it looks awesome .. the dentist said it did so we'll see Wednesday

I just went back and re-read through my own journal and ripped out all the dates of work .. Im stunned at how quickly ive done all this .. I almost didnt realize how quickly things went till I put dates next to everything... though i couldnt have done it without you guys .. first thing I do when i get to work at night (i work graveyard) ... is load up this page to read all the awesome posts ... read the success stories and even try to help with the support ones

11/9/09 - Full X-rays taken at office before hours

11/13/09 - Full upper and lower impressions done at home

11/24/09 - Met Dentist/Oral surgeon in person for consultation/exam

12/15/09 - Oral Surgery - 11 teeth extracted

12/16/09 - Temp bridge installed in front (canine to canine)

1/10/10 - Had my first ever cleaning/polishing

1/20/10 - Had 2 composite fillings done and final impressions for perm
bridge

1/22/10 - Had 5 composite fillings done

1/27/10 - Had Zoom teeth whitening done - went from a35 to a1 color on
shade chart (vita shade)

2/3/10 - Installing Perm bridge and getting last filling


THIS will finish PHASE 1 of my dental work


Phase 2 will begin after - that will involve replacing the other missing teeth - Implants are the likely option though we will have to see how the bone and stuff is at the extraction sites

the only thing that depresses me about all this work is the cost lol

I guess thats what i get for not going all this time .. Im just glad im in a spot where I can take care of the issue
