Wisdom teeth, all 4 have to be extracted...

If the nerve was close to the root, they would have said something about it, i would think. And mine mentioned it to me, but never really used the word "damage" and said that it would usually heal eventually so nothing long term.

And as far as the injections, more than likely they would do a nerve block which generally requires less number of injections. Even if not though, after the first couple you shouldn't be feeling the injections any longer. While it doesn't "bother me" in terms of pain (it usually isn't too painful) I just generally all around don't like it. Although, I am fairly certain this is simply a natural and built in reaction our body has on instinct - like how we dont like thing in/around our eyes or knees, etc. It is always a mind of matter type thing for sure.

i'll get my prescription of Ativan tomorrow at the drugstore. i'll make sure to eat and take Aleve as well before going there.

i bought apple sauce, pudding, alpha-getti cans, soft foods...and as the guide say, cereals that got soft after being soaked in milk for a while is good as well. I have Special K cereals here, which are just flakes without any coating on them. I bought enough milk to last a while without going out to get some.

I forgot...the bleeding tend to stop within 24 hours or maybe less, right?

Have you ever taken ativan before? Those things work very well. Throughout my anxiety disorder, i have tried all benzos and eventually settled on xanax, but ativan will definately relax you, that's for sure :)

i did took Ativan for my first extraction, but i think it didn't had much effect...maybe it did helped for the process, but i don't really remember.

I think they were 5mg x 3. if i remember, it was saying to take one 1 hour before, then another one 30 minutes before, and the last one at the dentist. before the appointment.

ok finally they are Ativan 1mg, not 5. 3 tiny pills, they say to take one 1h30 before the appointment, one 1h before, and the last one if needed at the appointment (i'll most likely take it)

Hope everything goes well for you and you can come back and encourage us. Best of luck to you.

hopefully i won't be wasted by the extraction afterward...i remember it wasn't that bad for the 2 previous molars back in August.

i'll ask my dentist, if i run out of cotton pads (he'll give me some) and i would still need some, i bought some sterile 4-ply non-woven compresses here (made of 70% rayon and 30% polyester), if that can work as well.

i feel dizzy right now. The cottons in my mouth hurt if i put more pressure on them...maybe i made them too thick?

i got prescribed "Ketorolac" and "PMS acet codeine", i wonder if Ketorolac would be better than Advil or Aleve.

How did everything go????

it went ok with the dentist, needles were unconfortable...

now i'm inthe healing process, and thinking 3 cottons tick rolled up is a bit too much.

Did they tell you how long to keep it in? You can take it out when it quits bleeding...

they said if you take the cotton out and it's bleeding a little still, it's normal.

i have 1 pad of cotton left.

Now when a swallow, it hurt, maybe because of the sockets?

The dentist prescribed me Ketorolac 10mg, the pharmacist say it's anti-inflammatory and anti-pain. Do you think i can take this instead of Advil or Aleve?

He also prescribed me "PMS Acet Codeine" 30mg, which the pharmacist said it's anti-pain only.

I don't really know much about those meds but I would recommend taking whatever the dentist/os told you to take.

it's been about 12 hours since i took Aleve now. i think i may try Ketorolac.

For some reasons, i have pain in the palate. The dentist did injected in it, so maybe that would be why?

I have heard those are the more painful injections so it well could be why. Take whatever they gave you by the instructions. Don't let yourself be in pain.

I would be willing to bet that the pain in the roof of your mouth is indeed from the injections.

I know u probably dont feel like it right now, but later when you are feeling better, coming back and posting your experience may help others facing their procedures.

i'll see. for now i'm still worrying about the blood clots, and being careful not to apply positive or negative pressure in my mouth. If this go well, i may go see a dentist the following week to make sure it's going fine.

I thought i would have had sutures, at least for the upper sockets.

I ate some yogurt and apple sauce recently, not eating much at the same time, more like the tip of the spoon, and being careful when i eat to keep it on my tongue and swallowing.

Tomorrow you should be able to do your warm salt water rinses. It sounds like you are doing all you can to prevent dry socket. You will probably be ok. I've heard that the harder the extraction the higher risk it is for dry socket. Didn't you say your teeth were not impacted? You will probably do just fine as long as you are careful to follow your post op instructions.

i'm still getting a bit of bleeding from the sockets (the lower ones i guess), is that normal?

It can be... depending on how difficult the extraction was. Did you bite down gently on the gauze or cotton you had in your mouth? That usually stops the bleeding after a while. You have to bite down with a little pressure.
