needing full denture

So my dentist says now I need a full denture. If that's what I need then I'm gunna go with the flow but in all honesty I'm a tad upset. I feel like ppl I know won't want to be around me anymore. Need some gentle support n advice.

If people are so shallow that they don't want to be around you because you are getting dentures then those people aren't true friends!...do not let worries of what others are gonna think stop you from getting whatever dental treatment you need...just think how happy you will be with your new dentures...you will have a perfect smile once the dentist is finished with you

And dentures these days are so natural looking that nobody should be able to guess that you are wearing dentures unless you choose to tell them

I think sometime between fall and winter. I'm going to a sedation dentist to have all the teeth pulled. Mind u I am 22 years old itskinda young to hhave dentures. But anyway I'm glad to know I'll have a better smile n feel better after

Dont think of them as dentures...think of them as YOUR Teeth as once the dentist gives them to you they are just as much your teeth as my teeth are mine...and if you don't get on with dentures you could always look into dental implants at a later time...

But good for you for taking control and sorting out your smile...i bet it will look amazing once the dentist has finished with you

Hey, 26 year old with full dentures here! Though I was 25 when I finally got them.

I don't think anybody knows except my closest family and my partner I was with at the time. People don't spend nearly as much time looking at your mouth as you yourself do!

The healing part was easy for me, but getting used to the dentures was a bit more frustrating. I was super self conscious of how I talked - I lisped a bit for the first couple of weeks, but that went away completely, and now I sound exactly how I did before. And the lisping was way more pronounced to me than anyone else. Are you getting immediates placed right after the teeth are removed? These help with healing, but they can be a bad fit at first because they have to guess what shape your gums will take. The plus side is that it's super easy for the dentist to adjust them - so if you find yourself with poorly fitting ones, don't lose heart. Just be patient!

There are so many upsides to having them, honestly. No more drills at the dentist - ever again! When I go now, I can relax and chat away to my dentist. I don't need to be afraid of injections or pain. No more toothache ever! And a great smile! After years of hating my smile, that's such a huge relief. It made me friendlier; I have so much more confidence meeting new people.

Oh awesome! Glad they're working for u no I'm not getting immediate dentures they're too expensive I have to go toothless for six weeks

Just to say I meet so many different people and being honest I wouldn't be able to tell if a person has dentures or not. At the end of the day it's the person and not the teeth that interests me.

I would imagine that you still have the option of Implants should you feel the need (I'm going to be having one installed fairly soon) and are able to finance them.

Its about you deciding what is right for you, if you are happy then that's all that matters

They are fairly expensive but I look upon them as a long term investment; many dentists offer interest free options on Implants, I'm currently saving a bit more for mine Also, if properly cared for they will last a very long time so on a per year basis they come out fairly competitively .

Again sorry to hear that you need full denture now, but I'm sure that you will be happier once you get them.

I'm just as good candidate for denture but I was lucky that teeth that were left were all in good position to
be used for bridges and company.

I remember how I felt when I was misinformed that all my teeth have to go. Even if I was ready for such
event it still hurt badly. I thought to my self well it is what it is and I immediately started to plan stuff.
Getting a full denture would be first thing I had to do. Even if its bad in my head it is still better then
my rotten teeth and would make me happy for a while until I proceed to get implants.

I doubt people would avoid you now I mean they didn't do it before so what has changed ? Nothing you
are just doing something that will make you better not worse.

So to me this seems to be just in your head. I find my mouth disgusting but people that know me don't
seem bothered by it or maybe they got used to it and I'm not. This stuff messes up with us so don't let
it get to you. It got to me but in my case its other way around I avoid people.

Try to be positive about all of this.

I'm 28years old and just a few weeks ago I had 3/4 of my teeth extracted thru IV sedation.. I'm currently in process of getting my partial dentures that's including my front teeth.. my advice is that having dentures is better then having no teeth or bad teeth giving ya problems ... it will defiantly change ya quality of Life in a good way plus once ya have dentures fitted in .. can always save to get implants later in life.. being young is a good perk that we have a few more years to be a good candidate for implants down the track

Not sure on what the protocol is where ya are based . I'm from new Zealand and over here my dentist that did my examination and xray on first appointment came up with the plan of action to restore my smile . Cos I needed surgery he referred me to surgeon to get work done then back to dentist for rest of restoration work. As for implants I'm planning on travelling to Thailand to get it done as there is only couple of places here to do them but they are extremely expensive. Best advice I can give is talk to your dentist... all good dentists can give you all info and options available and that would suit you mine suggested that in a year once my gums stop shirking I can opt to have implants so yay
